How to stand out at the NYE party – LGFG Fashion House

Many glamorous New Years Eve parties have of course dress codes written on the invitations. But most of the time it will end so that everyone (talking about you guys!) attending will look “copy and pastes.” Yet, there are always some stylish people who manage to shine brighter than diamonds just by standing out a little bit. We’re here to give you some useful style tips before the most glamorous night of the year on how to stand out from the crowd, and be on of the “stylish ones”

  • The tuxedo is a formal wear fail-safe. While the ladies have the chance to shine and show off their vanity – men mostly are all dressed in black and white. So you should rather choose a subtle touches of colour. So stay classic, but wear a red or burgundy or even a velvet blazer with your black tuxedo trousers.
  • Choose one element with patterns – it could be the big element like blazer or trousers or just a small colour kick with your bow tie or a pocket square to give a little more life to your look.
  • After the formal part of the event most men take off their ties.  To make you stand out, there is one safe move – your blazer and trousers should be in contrastingly different colours. Try a solid colour blazer but pair it with plaid, houndstooth or patterned trouser. And a pocket square, too, is a great accessory to help you out in this case.
  • LGFG Executive clothier Katrin Kiviselg in Belgium says that the tuxedo suit is always fine but recommends to wear it with a roll neck sweater to give it a surprising new look. Penguin look, meet power move.
  • For a more casual event with your friends you shouldn’t just put on your old jeans and sweater. Even the most relaxed pieces get a pass if you nail fit and fabric. Try a wool or flannel designer sweat pant with elastic cuffs at the bottom for a casual look with an upscale twist. Finish with a long sleeve polo and an unstructured blazer.
  • If you mustn’t wear a tie – leave it at home and wear a silk scarf instead. Silk scarves are really luxe accessories and make everyday look instantly party-ready. Wear a burgundy or cobalt scarf with your darkest suit. And also keep in mind that subtle patterns lift things further.
  • If your tuxedo is pin sharp and black in colour then wear it with equally black shirt and no tie. The slimmer and darker your tux, the better. Going all black also pushes things casual, so tone down the rest of your look to suit; a shawl collar beats peak lapels, rich velvet trumps shiny wool, and don’t be tempted by studs or wing tip collars.
  • There’s an important, but too often ignored, distinction between taking inspiration from one of cinema’s most enduringly stylish characters (talking about Bond. James Bond) and dressing in his outfit. So expect an infestation of white tuxedos at this year’s NYE party. Avoid looking exactly like the star of the new Spectre movie and don’t try to copy him. Lose the bow tie in favour of a slim fit mock roll neck (in black, naturally) and an off-white, double breasted jacket. Pair with black trousers and chunky-soled black lace-ups and your look tacks away from fancy dress.
